Porsche Russia Alarm Issues Spark Widespread Vehicle Immobilization

Redazione RHC : 2 December 2025 14:39

Porsche owners in Russia are increasingly experiencing problems with factory alarms, making it impossible to use their cars. Their cars won’t start, stall immediately after starting, or display engine-related errors . Managers at the Rolf dealership told RBC that they’ve noticed an increase in service calls since November 28 due to the satellite alarms being blocked.

According to the company’s customer service manager, Yulia Trushkova, there is currently no correlation between models and types of engines, and in theory, any vehicle can be immobilized.

Currently, immobilization can be bypassed by resetting the factory alarm unit and removing it. The cause of the malfunction has not yet been determined, but the company notes that it may have been done intentionally . According to Rolf, similar situations have also occurred among Mercedes-Benz owners, but such incidents are much rarer.

Earlier, the SHOT Telegram channel reported that hundreds of Porsches across Russia had been declared “illegal” due to a malfunction in the factory alarm system, attributed to communication issues. Drivers in Moscow, Krasnodar, and other cities reported problems. Some owners reported temporarily bypassing the system by disconnecting the battery for about ten hours to allow the alarm system to discharge and restart.

According to Avto.ru magazine, owners of Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera models have primarily turned to service centers for similar complaints. Complaints about stalling engines and stalling engines have been occurring for years, but have become widespread this fall. According to preliminary data, the problem is prevalent in vehicles manufactured before 2020 and equipped with the older GSM/GPS Vehicle Tracking System (VTS). The Porsche Club Russia Telegram channel cites a malfunction of the satellite module as the main cause, resulting in communication limitations and stalls. Drivers emphasize that disconnecting the battery is seen as a temporary solution, allowing them to reach a service center.

Satellite alarms on these vehicles are based on navigation systems and are designed to improve security and monitor the vehicle’s condition, even in the event of attempted theft or external factors. If the vehicle is locked, the anti-theft system can prevent the engine, starter, or ignition from starting, as well as cut off the fuel supply and activate the vehicle’s warning lights in abnormal mode.

German automaker Porsche AG has ceased official car deliveries to Russia in 2022, citing “great uncertainty and the current upheavals.” However, the company still operates three Russian subsidiaries: Porsche Russia, Porsche Center Moscow, and PFS Russia .

Attempts to sell these businesses have so far been unsuccessful. Autonews previously reported, citing company headquarters, that the Volkswagen Group, which includes Porsche, has canceled its obligations to provide after-sales service and spare parts for vehicles previously sold in Russia.
