Muxi Integrated Circuit (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. officially unveiled the Xiyun C600 , the first general-purpose GPU entirely made in China , marking a crucial milestone in the development of the domestic high-performance GPU industry.

The chip, the result of a project started in February 2024 , is based on fully autonomous intellectual property and a closed, domestic supply chain , including design, manufacturing, packaging and testing.

The Xiyun C600 is currently in the functional test phase and is expected to enter mass production by the end of the year . The GPU integrates high-capacity video memory and hybrid multi-precision computing power , supporting MetaXLink super-node expansion technology.

This architecture efficiently handles workloads related to training and inferencing generative AI models , while delivering advanced software compatibility and high hardware performance.

According to Sun Guoliang , senior vice president of Muxi, “computing power is becoming the new ‘hard currency’ of the digital economy, and general-purpose GPU chips are the strategic competition ground between nations.”

Sun recalled that since the company was founded five years ago, Muxi has focused on technological innovation in the GPU field, leveraging both hardware and software to build a wholly-owned , domestically-owned, reliable and secure autonomous computing platform .

Muxi also collaborated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to develop the Qianka computing cluster , which was used to complete the training of several large-scale models , demonstrating the full pre-training capability of home computing systems.

Wang Shuang , general manager of Muxi (Nanjing), explained that the Nanjing branch is the first one wholly owned by the parent company and is responsible for the research and development of a whole range of GPU chips .

In addition to the C600, Muxi confirmed that it is already working on the next-generation C700 model , designed to offer significant improvements in processing power, memory capacity, communication, and energy efficiency . Initial estimates indicate that its performance will approach that of the NVIDIA H100 , the world’s leading GPU.

Muxi Integrated Circuit is considered one of China’s most promising high-tech companies. Having completed two rounds of pre-IPO inquiries , the company is now approaching the sprint to its IPO .

The launch of Xiyun C600 not only consolidates Muxi’s position as a strategic player in the semiconductor market, but also represents a decisive step towards Chinese technological independence in the field of AI graphics processors.
