This phrase has been said by Red Hot Cyber on many occasions, such as in conferences, written often on many articles.
But what does it mean?
Knowing the “demons,” i.e., understanding and interpreting how cyber-criminals operate, not only helps us understand their motivations and methods (or better said what we call in technical terms as Techniques, Tactics and Procedures or TTPs of the malicious actor), but also allows us to develop the most effective cyber defenses capable of countering them on their own ground.
Understanding how Threat Actors think and operate is essential to improve cyber defenses and prevent future attacks, and thus be increasingly aware of threats and risk.
