Human Washing Machine Launched: Japan’s Science Unveils Unique Device

Redazione RHC : 1 December 2025 22:59

Japanese company Science has launched a washing machine for humans. The 2.30-meter-long capsule bathes a person in 15 minutes and attracted considerable interest at the recently concluded Osaka Expo. The device is modeled after the human washing machine presented at the 1970 Expo, also held in Osaka.

As reported by the Indian news site NDTV , the president of Science is said to have seen this capsule as a child, which apparently left a lasting impression on him. Users lie on a bed inside the capsule and are then covered in foam and a fine mist.

During the wash, relaxing music and visual effects are played. Built-in sensors monitor users’ health to ensure safety. After the 15-minute wash, users are dried off and can leave the pod clean.

The washing machine’s price, according to the Japan Times, is reportedly around 332,000 euros. According to its website, 40,000 requests to use it were received at the Osaka Expo.

Given its price, this appliance is unlikely to become a mass-produced household item. The company is aware of this and therefore plans to produce only 50 units . A hotel in Osaka has reportedly already purchased one and intends to offer it to its guests as an experience.

Additionally, Japanese electronics retailer Yamada Denki plans to sell the device through its Ikebukuro store, as reported by the Japan Times. A demonstration unit will be available at the store. It’s not yet known when the washing machine will be available in stores.
