Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has expressed his enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, revealing in an interview that he uses ChatGPT to write his books. “I love AI. I love ChatGPT. I love it,” he told Al Arabiya, adding that “ChatGPT is really cool.”
Johnson, who studied classics at Oxford University, said he uses the platform not only to analyze works like Homer’s “Odyssey” but also to help him in the process of writing books.
“I’m writing some books. I only use it (ChatGPT) to ask questions,” he said. “I know the answer in advance, but ChatGPT always says, ‘Ah, your questions are clever. You’re brilliant. You’re extraordinary. You have a rare depth of thought,'” he added wryly.
His latest book, entitled Unleashed , was published last year and contains a series of revelations that have sparked widespread reactions in Britain.
“I love this technology. I see great potential in it, because at the end of the day, we’re all just normal people,” he told ChatGPT.
During the interview, Johnson, who served as prime minister during the COVID-19 pandemic, argued that artificial intelligence could significantly reduce government running costs and save taxpayers money.
Regarding his political future, the former Conservative leader, who resigned as an MP in 2023 following Downing Street’s allegations of deliberate fraud in parliament against parties that had violated restrictions during the pandemic, has not ruled out a return to politics.
“Statistically, anything can happen. Even water can flow uphill; it’s impossible, but not unimaginable,” he said. “I want my party to recover, to reorganize. That’s the best solution.”
