Google is ready to launch Gemini 3.0: will it really be the turning point in the AI race?

Redazione RHC : 16 November 2025 21:18

Google is getting closer to the official unveiling of Gemini 3.0 , the new artificial intelligence model destined to represent one of the most significant steps in the company’s strategy. According to internal information, the release is imminent and scheduled for later this year, as confirmed by CEO Sundar Pichai .

In recent days, interest in the model has grown rapidly. On X and several Discord servers, some AI enthusiasts claim that Gemini 3 is already in the advanced testing phase, a hypothesis fueled by Google’s usual secretive testing methods for its technologies. Interest has been further amplified by the model’s presence in discussions among analysts and industry insiders, who see it as the next testbed for the company’s ability to regain its place as a leading player in the race for generative AI.

Expectations are high: Gemini 3 should show significant advances in programming and multimedia content production. Among the expected new features is an update to Nano Banana , Google’s image creation tool.

This launch comes in a particularly competitive environment. Since the release of ChatGPT in late 2022, Google has often been described as a company forced to play catch-up. The pressure has led to an internal reorganization and the accelerated integration of generative AI into the company’s core products. In recent months, however, data seems to indicate a recovery: Gemini usage is growing, and the model has not negatively impacted the advertising business, historically central to Google.

To regain ground, the company leveraged its structural advantage: in addition to developing the models, it has the cloud infrastructure and distribution channels needed to rapidly integrate them into its services. This approach has allowed it to remain relatively independent from the increasingly dense network of alliances that characterizes the industry.

The most immediate challenge remains the competition with OpenAI , which this year introduced the new ChatGPT 5 , which was greeted with great attention but had a lower-than-expected impact. According to sources cited by Business Insider, Gemini 3 is considered “extremely impressive” by those who have had the opportunity to test it, so much so that it could represent a concrete opportunity for Google to raise its head and return to competing at the highest levels.

However, a major obstacle remains: branding. ChatGPT continues to be the most recognizable name among the general public, similar to the role “Google” plays in web search. While the Gemini app has reached 650 million monthly active users , OpenAI’s service continues to maintain a superior presence with approximately 800 million weekly users . Gemini’s growing popularity among younger users could help narrow the gap, but the gap remains significant.

The decisions made in recent years regarding cloud infrastructure, chip design, and research investment now appear to be starting to yield tangible results. If Gemini 3 lives up to expectations, Google could be in a position to decisively relaunch its pursuit of generative AI.
