Kawasaki CORLEO Robot Quadrupede for Human Transport by 2035

3 December 2025 16:16

Kawasaki Heavy Industries plans to launch a quadruped robot capable of carrying humans in 2035.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries announced on December 3 that it has begun production of ” CORLEO ,” a quadruped robot capable of carrying people. It is scheduled for market launch in 2035. The robot will be offered in conjunction with outdoor recreation services, with the company aiming to achieve sales of 300 billion yen by 2040.

The company announced the news at a press conference held in Tokyo on the 3rd. President Yasuhiko Hashimoto said, “We hope to combine robotics and motorcycle technology to realize practical applications, creating a machine that allows anyone to enjoy racing in the mountains and fields.”

CORLEO is similar in size to a large motorcycle and moves on all fours . The rider sits astride it and steers it by shifting their weight. Its design resembles a lion running across the mountains and uses an internal hydrogen fuel cell engine for power generation and propulsion . Kawasaki Heavy Industries recently established a dedicated research and development organization.

The initial goal is to make it a primary means of transportation within the 2030 Riyadh World Expo site in Saudi Arabia. Public sale is planned for 2035, along with navigation systems for mountainous terrain. Pricing and other details will be discussed later.

Additionally, CORLEO emulators and other services for the esports industry are planned. President Hashimoto stated that the new sector will focus on security and adventure, including related sectors.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries is developing the CORLEO around the theme of “Mobility 2050.” The goal is to make it a completely new form of mobility , distinct from traditional four- and two-wheeled vehicles.

The company unveiled the CORLEO concept at the Osaka Kansai Expo from April to October 2025. The concept garnered 1.2 billion views on social media, generating significant response that led to the decision to commercialize it.
