At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Lovense , known for its app-controlled smart toys for adults , decided to make a bold statement in a completely different format . Instead of just another gadget , it unveiled Emily , an AI-powered companion doll that the brand is trying to present not as a typical life-sized figure, but as a physical extension of its virtual companions in apps.
According to Lovense, Emily combines a lifelike silicone body, a movable internal “skeleton,” and basic facial expressions with a proprietary artificial intelligence engine designed to behave “like a human.”
The company claims the system can hold a conversation, remember details of past conversations, and adapt its communication style to the owner over time, gradually changing their personality and reactions. Marketing materials present this as an attempt to combat loneliness through the accumulation of shared “memories” and habits.
The hardware itself, judging by the description, is rather simple. Inside the head are actuators and mechanisms that allow for limited facial expressions: for example, slightly moving the mouth while speaking, blinking, and attempting to wink. This doesn’t resemble movie humanoids, but is intended to provide a small level of verisimilitude, so that conversations don’t seem too cinematic.
The doll features built-in Bluetooth, allowing it to connect to the Lovense ecosystem of devices. Battery life is claimed to be up to eight hours. The company also emphasizes that interaction with Emily isn’t limited to mere presence: through a proprietary app, users can chat with the AI remotely and even request “selfies” specifically generated to match Emily’s appearance , CNET notes.
Lovense emphasizes customization and personalization : its behavior and personality, as well as some physical characteristics, can be modified. Demonstrations at the show promoted Emily as a long-term companion rather than a device for intimate use, promising “prejudice-free” communication and a safe environment for experiencing intimacy.
The estimated price is between $4,000 and $8,000. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027, and a spot on the waiting list can be secured with a $200 pre-order.
