On July 16, Mercedes-Benz announced in a press release the expansion of its collaboration with Microsoft, introducing the latest Office solutions and collaboration tools, including an updated version of the Meetings for Teams app. This new feature allows you to participate in video conferences directly from your car, using the on-board camera, even while driving.

Mercedes-Benz also became the first automaker to natively integrate Microsoft Intune into the MB.OS in-vehicle operating system, thus extending the possibilities of remote working directly into the car. The two companies also confirmed their plan to integrate Microsoft 365 Copilot, the assistant based on generative AI, which will make meeting preparation and management more efficient.

According to the announcement, these new features will debut this summer on the new Mercedes-Benz CLA equipped with the fourth-generation MBUX system and MB.OS.

With the new Meetings for Teams app, drivers can participate in video conferences using the vehicle’s built-in camera. To ensure safety, the system complies with local regulations: while driving, the video conference screen is automatically deactivated, preventing the driver from viewing shared content or presentations. The camera can be deactivated at any time. The app has also been optimized for business use, offering a new interface with a “next meeting” preview, quick access to frequently used contacts, improved chat, and the ability to enter text using voice commands. You can also switch from your calendar to a Teams meeting with a single tap, for a quick and intuitive transition.

Finally, the press release highlights the development of Microsoft 365 Copilot integration as one of the first AI-powered collaborative assistants designed for the automotive world. Users will be able to use voice commands to quickly synthesize emails, get customer information, and schedule appointments, enabling more efficient and safer management of daily tasks, without distractions while driving.
