Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the company of allowing its platform to become a haven for sexual predators and distributors of child-themed content. The lawsuit alleges that the company violates state laws by failing to adequately protect users and warn parents of the risks.
The lawsuit alleges that Roblox facilitates the distribution of material that exploits minors and fails to take concrete steps to address the loopholes. One of the arguments was a study in which a community of over 3,000 registered members was caught exchanging such material and attempting to extort intimate material from minors. Furthermore, real-life incidents have already been reported in Louisiana. For example, in Livingston Parish, a Roblox player was arrested for posting prohibited content. To communicate with teenagers, he used software that modified his voice to mimic a girl’s speech.
Paragraphs are particularly sensitive to age verification. Roblox uses a biometric system that requires uploading a photo of an ID, but this is not activated for new accounts. According to the prosecutor’s office, the platform does not effectively verify users’ ages and does not involve parents when a child registers a new profile or attempts to circumvent restrictions.

Murrill argued that the company put commercial interests ahead of children’s safety, turning the playground into a space open to abuse, which is why the state deemed it necessary to prosecute.
Roblox has already issued an official response, stating that the allegations of deliberately ignoring threats are untrue. Company representatives emphasized that millions of users use the platform every day for gaming, learning, and other constructive activities. The statement states that no protection can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and that attackers are always looking for new ways to circumvent it.
However, the company continues to implement updated threat detection tools and add additional layers of protection. Roblox CEO Dave Bazzucchi had previously urged parents to pay more attention to their children’s digital entertainment choices and make more informed decisions.
