RTX 5090 Orders Halted: Is the Most Powerful Consumer GPU Vanishing?

28 October 2026 08:04

Nvidia has stopped accepting new orders for kits consisting of Blackwell GB202 graphics processors and GDDR7 memory for the production of GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, says one of the video‑card manufacturers that builds models with its own design (AIB partner). Meanwhile, Nvidia denies halting production of the flagship model and states it will continue to supply it, despite limited manufacturing capacity.

The situation was disclosed by German Roman Hartung, known as der8auer, overclocker and tech blogger. According to his information, one of Nvidia’s partners confirmed not having received any notice about the end of the GeForce RTX 5090 lifecycle, but can no longer order the GB202 chips together with 32 GB of GDDR7 memory.

In the past, in similar supply‑disruption cases, manufacturers could place additional orders, even if immediate delivery was not possible. That option is no longer available and the timeline for order resumption is unknown. Moreover, there is no confirmation that the restrictions apply to all Nvidia partners.

The supply‑issue information aligns with earlier messages about the reduced production of GeForce RTX 5090. Nvidia representatives had then stated that the company would continue to supply the graphics cards, although manufacturing capacity was limited.

Further signs of production cuts have been spotted by cooling‑system suppliers. According to one of them, two Nvidia partners have sharply reduced the projected order quantities for GeForce RTX 5090 coolers for Q1 2027 compared with Q3 2026. For Q2 2027, the supplier received no orders for cooling systems for this model.

The GeForce RTX 5090 situation highlights the challenges Nvidia may face in ensuring a regular supply of its flagship graphics card. The inability, for at least one AIB partner, to order GB202 chips together with 32 GB of GDDR7 memory is a significant signal, especially since there are no clear indications of when orders might resume. The information gathered by der8auer, combined with the drop in cooler orders, suggests a possible production slowdown in the coming months.

Nvidia, however, continues to state that the GeForce RTX 5090 will remain available, while acknowledging the limits of manufacturing capacity. If supply difficulties persist into 2027, there could be repercussions on the card’s availability and on retailer pricing. Further updates will be needed to determine whether this is a temporary logistical issue or a more structural supply reduction.
