Work and artificial intelligence: rising salaries for those who use AI?

Redazione RHC : 3 October 2025 07:35

The debate over artificial intelligence applied to the world of work is currently intensifying, a clear sign of how digital technology is radically transforming employment methods, skills, and dynamics. The repercussions are already beginning to be felt in various sectors: as we recently reported, the developer profession was among the first to suffer, with a 71% drop in demand for specialized personnel.

A recent survey conducted by the online recruiting platform reveals that the majority of employees consider a salary increase justified for those who actively use artificial intelligence tools in their work.

Fifteen percent of respondents believe that the use of AI should guarantee a pay increase regardless of results. A larger share, 46%, believes that a raise is appropriate only if the use of AI leads to improved performance.

Conversely, 34% see no connection between pay and interaction with neural networks, while 5% even think that the salaries of these professionals should decrease, since some of the tasks would still be performed by AI.

Generational differences are clear. Workers under 24 tend to view AI skills as an added value worthy of financial reward: 16% favor automatic recognition, while 47% consider it somewhat desirable. Among those over 55, however, the prevailing view is that results matter: 57% of respondents in this age group prioritize performance over technology use.

There are no significant differences between the views of employees and managers, with differences ranging only between 1 and 3%.

Regarding the importance of AI skills, only 4% of respondents consider them essential for employment . 37% consider them useful but not crucial, 44% place greater importance on other professional skills, and 15% see no value in them.

In a broader context, we are beginning to think about the importance of developing systems thinking in children from an early age, considering it a fundamental element in an era characterized by the spread of artificial intelligence.

The discussion raised by the survey is part of a global context in which AI is profoundly transforming the labor market. Companies are evaluating how to integrate these tools to increase efficiency and productivity, but the debate remains open about how to financially reward these new digital skills. The perception that AI can replace or reduce the size of certain tasks coexists with the belief that human skills, such as critical thinking and creativity, remain crucial and must be protected.
