Would you like to have a robot that does the laundry? Figure’s robot does it.

As for the mundane tasks humanoid robots could soon perform for us, the possibilities are vast. Doing laundry is probably at the top of many people’s wish list. Figure 02 shows a glimpse of what it might look like in a video shared on X.

Humanoid robots have seen rapid advances lately. Videos of androids circulate online, showing them boxing, playing soccer, or performing acrobatic kung fu moves—impressive and entertaining, no doubt.

But so far, these demonstrations offer little practical value. That’s where the Figure Model 02 robot stands out.

A clip recently shared on X by Figure founder Brett Adcock shows O2 handling laundry. While it can’t yet operate the machine itself, it can load it, offering a glimpse of how humanoid robots might help with household chores in the future.

Sure, Figure 02 takes a while to load the washing machine, but it does so with impressive precision. The robot, for example, detects when laundry is hanging out of the drum and adjusts accordingly. Many users in the comments were impressed by Figure 02’s capabilities, particularly its fluid movements. However, many are calling for more detailed video content showing the entire process.

While some viewers questioned the authenticity of the video due to the robot’s unusually fluid movements, Adcock explained that this is due to Helix, the company’s internal artificial intelligence model. Figure plans to make Helix available to other robot manufacturers in the future, which could lead to a wider deployment of humanoid robots for household chores. However, it remains uncertain whether these Androids will also be accessible to home users.

Although pricing hasn’t been announced yet, Figure is positioning the O2 for industrial customers. It’s expected to be significantly more expensive than Unitree’s R1, which could appeal to home users, though more for entertainment than practical use.
