CrowdStrike: 76% of organizations struggle to combat AI attacks

Redazione RHC : 28 October 2025 06:30

Enterprises are lagging behind in ransomware preparedness as adversaries use AI across the attack chain to accelerate intrusion, encryption and extortion.

Milan – October 27, 2025 – According to CrowdStrike ‘s (NASDAQ: CRWD) State of Ransomware 2025 report, 76% of organizations globally struggle to match the speed and sophistication of AI-powered attacks. With 89% considering AI-based protection essential to closing the gap, the findings clearly show that those who leverage AI’s advantage will decide the future of cybersecurity, whether adversaries or defenders.

“From malware development to social engineering, adversaries are using AI to accelerate every stage of attacks, dramatically reducing defenders’ reaction time,” said Elia Zaitsev, CTO of CrowdStrike. “CrowdStrike’s State of Ransomware 2025 report confirms that traditional defenses cannot compete with the speed or sophistication of AI-powered attacks. Time is the currency of modern cyber defense, and in the current AI-driven threat landscape, every second counts.”

Key Findings from the State of Ransomware 2025 Report

  • Traditional defenses aren’t keeping pace: 48% of organizations cite AI-automated attack chains as today’s top ransomware threat, while 85% believe traditional detection is becoming obsolete against AI-enhanced attacks.
  • Speed defines security outcomes: Nearly 50% of organizations fear they won’t be able to detect or respond as quickly as AI-based attacks; fewer than a quarter recover within 24 hours, and nearly 25% experience major disruptions or data loss.
  • Social engineering evolves with AI: Phishing remains a top attack vector, with 87% of respondents saying AI makes deceptions more convincing, and deepfakes emerging as a major driver of future ransomware attacks.
  • Paying the ransom fuels new attacks: 83% of organizations that paid a ransom were hit again, and in 93% of cases, data was stolen anyway.
  • Leadership gap: 76% report a discrepancy between executives’ perception of ransomware readiness and actual readiness, highlighting the urgent need for board-level commitment to modernize defenses

CrowdStrike’s “agentic” approach to overcoming AI-powered threats

CrowdStrike puts defenders ahead of the race for AI superiority by providing effective speed, intelligence, and automation to stop AI-based threats and ransomware operations before they can cause disruption, encryption, or extortion. Through the Agentic Security Platform , CrowdStrike’s Agentic Security Workforce puts security analysts in command of mission-ready AI agents that can handle critical workflows and automate time-consuming tasks, effectively shifting the time factor in defenders’ favor. The result is AI-powered protection that keeps defenders ahead of AI-driven threats.
