Remember NVIDIA DGX Spark? Here comes the GMKtec EVO-X2, at half the price.

Chinese manufacturer GMKtec has presented its new EVO-X2 mini PC , equipped with a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor , claiming performance comparable – and in some cases superior – to that of the NVIDIA DGX Spark mini supercomputer, but at a significantly lower price.

The DGX Spark was officially launched after nearly a year of development, priced at $3,999 . GMKtec, on the other hand, offers its EVO-X2 at less than half the cost of the NVIDIA model.

In internal tests published on the official GMKtec blog, the EVO-X2 mini PC was pitted against the DGX Spark on several large open source models, including the Llama 3.3 70B , GPT-OSS 20B , Qwen3 Coder , and Qwen3 0.6B .

The results show that the Strix Halo processor’s heterogeneous CPU+GPU+NPU architecture and XDNA 2 engine provide a significant advantage in real-time inference operations. Specifically, EVO-X2 stands out for its fast token generation and lower startup latency compared to DGX Spark, making it more responsive in immediate-response scenarios.

While the DGX Spark maintains 1 PFLOP FP4 computing power with 10GB of memory , making it ideal for high-throughput environments, GMKtec’s mini PC appears to be targeting a different user segment: professionals and developers who need real-time inference and latency-sensitive applications, but on a more modest budget .

In summary, while the DGX Spark is aimed at those who require maximum power for intensive processing, the EVO-X2 offers a compact and more accessible solution , capable of offering competitive performance in large AI models, with a favorable price/performance ratio .
