The union of two giants like TIM and Poste Italiane represents more than a simple commercial partnership, but a truly epochal turning point for the entire national digital landscape . With the creation of a technology hub dedicated to cloud and artificial intelligence , our country is preparing to achieve autonomy, security, and innovation, reducing its dependence on large foreign multinationals.
The joint venture, which focuses on innovation, aims to revolutionize the cloud and artificial intelligence sector in Italy . The country could finally reach a milestone in its years-long quest for technological independence.
According to initial information, the project aims to create a national hub for advanced digital services , intended for businesses and public administrations. This strategic infrastructure is built around key values such as open source, technological sovereignty, data security, and reducing dependence on foreign Big Tech .
The joint venture will be held almost equally: 51% TIM and 49% Poste Italiane , with the latter holding the controlling stake. The project will be led by TIM Enterprise , TIM’s B2B division, which will provide its network of 17 data centers , eight of which are Tier IV certified , the highest level of reliability and security.
These infrastructures will form the backbone of the new technology hub , providing the computing power needed to support next-generation cloud solutions and generative artificial intelligence systems.
An important element of this synergy is PosteMobile’s transition to the TIM network, scheduled for 2026 , which will further strengthen the integration between the two groups. As TIM emphasized, the long-term agreement with Poste Mobile will rely on the operator’s next-generation network. This is an example of how TIM is leveraging its assets and respective infrastructures. Similarly, TIM Energia powered by Poste will combine the strength of the Customer Platform with the extraordinary trust Poste enjoys among millions of households.
However, it is when looking to the future that this alliance shows its greatest potential . In early November, TIM announced its intention to create a joint venture focused on cloud computing and generative artificial intelligence.
This is a key point, because it means pooling TIM’s expertise with that of Poste Italiane , thus creating a national hub of excellence. These words clearly outline the project’s ambition: to combine skills and resources to create a strategic infrastructure entirely “made in Italy.”
